Francesco Mazzarini
He has a full position as Senior Researcher at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV). He is the head of the research unit "Geomorphology and Tectonics" at the INGV-Pisa. He is skilled in geological field mapping, structural analysis and Remote Sensing and he participated as structural geologists and as expertis in remote sensing at several scientific campaigns in Antarctica, Ethiopia, Yemen, Argentina, Chile, Morocco and Hawaii (USA).The scientific activity is essentially focused on the study of tectonic evolution of continents.
Current research activity is focussed to:
- Applications of LiDAR technology to volcanic areas.
- Morpho-structural analysis by using digital elevation models.
- Pliocene-Pleistocene tectonic and magmatic evolution of southern Tuscany.
- Fluids circulation within upper crust.
